emo afternoon thoughts

Divorce Song was never my favorite track on "Exile in Guyville" as a teenager. but I think it is now.

Packing lunches, scheduling bedtimes, cooking wholesome dinners, and having your schedules interrupted by teenage baseball practice brings an eerie sense of mortality when one is no longer the baseball player

why does NBC think I only want to watch olympic sports in which the US has a medal hopeful?

It's because the "you" they seek would also rather watch ice dancing than US-Canada hockey. If NBC Olympic coverage were beamed to other countries, there would probably be another 9/11 shortly.

Senor Beavis has it right. I much prefer the CBC's coverage - fewer puff pieces and athlete profiles, more teams sports in which neither the US nor Canada is involved, and more time devoted to non-glamorous sports (including rowing in the summer games). Its just better all around.

You listened to Exile In Guyville as a teenager? I don't think I had even heard of Liz Phair until college.
