New Video from The National*

"Bloodbuzz, Ohio" is the first video off of High Violet.

Blogmigo Ellen Wernecke suggested I name this post "Common Sense Dancing to The National." I'm not sure what to make of Matt Berninger's dancing, but I enjoy the video's low-tech, 1980's look and - though opinions about this may differ - I like how the video doesn't go out of its way to make him look cool. He looks depressed and serious and artistic. All of which he is, and all of which are reasons why we love The National.

I know the square root of fuck-all about The National, unless you count Frank Deford's all-sports newspaper endeavor, but when I heard this on the radio I was incredulous that it wasn't Nick Cave.

"Hey Matt, do that amazing dance you did the other night when we killed that box of wine. Ha! That's incredible! Can you do it in a trench coat?... Oh, that camera's not on, don't worry."

That's what dancing looks like when you're sad.

"Matt, if you don't dance now, you'll regret it, maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of your life."

Mike,

That's what dancing looks like when you are both awesome and sad.

i don't get what the problem is...all matt berninger and loveliness. i do think it is a little funny...oh why don't i put on my suit and go roll around on a grassy knoll, or take a walk on a country path until my favorite wine bar opens... ?

It's funny, but at some level it's a little concerning. Hey Matt, do you want to sit on this park bench? Is there someone you can call to take you home? Can you not Virginia Woolf yourself today?

As long as Beenee is around, Matt is always going to have somebody he can call to take him home.
